Bruce Riser, MS, PHD - CEO & CSO
BLR Bio is led by Dr. Bruce L. Riser. Prior to taking on the position of CEO, Dr. Riser directed Baxter Healthcare's Renal Division efforts in the discovery of renal/cardiovascular therapies, technology identification and assessment, strategy formation, and innovation.
While at Baxter and in his current position, he has maintained an appointment as Adjunct Professor of Physiology and Biophysics at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science and Professor of Medicine at Chicago Medical School. He holds multiple degrees including Public Health (MS) and Cell Molecular Biology/Virology (PhD) from the University of Michigan School of Public Health, and a post-doctorate degree in Pathology from the University of Michigan Medical School.
He also has a decade of leadership experience in the Division of Nephrology at Henry Ford Hospital. Dr. Riser has published more than 60 peer-reviewed original articles and book chapters, holds more than 20 patents in a variety of therapeutic and diagnostic areas and is a recognized leader in the identification of key pathways leading to chronic kidney disease as a complication of diabetes and the role of cytokines and the matricellular proteins CCNs in fibro-inflammatory disease. His passion has been to capitalize on the most current technology and understanding of how the body has evolved to to self-cure, then use this to create novel therapies for the millions worldwide who are suffering from diseases not currently treated.
Scott Richardson, MBA - Chief Commercial Officer
Mr. Richardson is CCO of BLR Bio LLC. He brings to the role over 25 years of biopharmaceutical experience across therapeutic areas, including oncology, pulmonary, cardiovascular, metabolic, immunology and rare diseases. He has extensive experience in product development and commercialization working with Research, Development, Medical and Regulatory groups as well as proven success building and leading top performing organizations. His commercial background includes Global and US leadership in Marketing, Market Access-Pricing, Commercial Excellence and Sales Management areas having led pre-launch and launch of blockbuster and mega blockbuster franchises. Mr. Richardson held multiple leadership positions at Boehringer Ingelheim and more recently with Johnson & Johnson’s pharmaceutical business where he held leadership roles with responsibilities across the company’s 6 businesses. Mr. Richardson holds Masters of Business Administration and Bachelor of Commerce degrees from McMaster University.
Ron Garmon MBA,JD- Finance
Mr. Garmon brings 25+ years international executive management experience that includes CFO, Market Defense; Principal, Silver Crane Advisors; Founder, CEO, and COO of VueLogic; SVP Analytics, Inmar Graphic, Senior VP Equifax Inc (NYSE:EFX) where he led operations across 5 continents.
Mr. Garmon’s education includes University of North Georgia (BBA Accounting and Management) and Woodrow Wilson College of Law (JD).
Thomas Cox, JD, MBA - Legal
Mr. Cox bring 25+ years of experience that includes VP at Baxter Healthcare, Senior positions in Venture and Private Equity, now a Partner at McCarthy Duffy in Chicago. He has led or participated in over 30 venture and private equity investments as a principal investor over his career, and he continues to serve as a member of the Board of Directors of several private companies.
